International conference on quantum simulation – QSim2026

Amsterdam will to host QSim2026, the premier international conference dedicated to the rapidly evolving field of quantum simulation. Bringing together a multidisciplinary community of physicists, computer scientists, and chemists, the event aims to bridge the gap between theoretical frameworks and cutting-edge experimental platforms.

Quantum simulation has become one of the most dynamic sectors of quantum information science. While building a universal, error-corrected quantum computer remains a long-term global goal, quantum simulators are already entering regimes that challenge the limits of today’s most powerful classical supercomputers. By custom-engineering quantum systems, researchers can directly mimic and probe complex physical phenomena that were previously entirely inaccessible.

To capture the full scope of these advancements, QSim2026 will explore both major paradigms of the field. On the analog side, the focus will be on manipulating platforms like ultracold atoms, molecules in optical lattices, and Rydberg gases to directly replicate complex many-body Hamiltonians. In parallel, the digital track will highlight how discrete quantum gates—utilizing trapped ions, superconducting circuits, and solid-state spins—can be programmed to simulate molecular dynamics and optimization problems.

A collaborative framework
The primary objective of QSim2026 is to foster deep cross-disciplinary interactions. By bringing together hardware engineers scaling up physical architectures and theorists developing algorithms to bound simulation errors, the conference serves as a melting pot for new methodologies. The event aims to expand the academic toolkit of its attendees, unveiling unexpected connections between disparate fields of physics and material science.

The program kicks off with an immersive three-day pre-conference summer school designed for early-career researchers, followed by five days of main conference presentations featuring leading voices from both academia and industry.

Join the conference

QSim2026 will take place from Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14, 2026 at the University of Amsterdam, Roeterseiland Campus. QSim2026 is organized in collaboration with key stakeholders in the Dutch and international quantum ecosystems.

Registration is now officially open. Interested participants can find more information about the call for abstracts, confirmed invited speakers, and venue details on the official conference website.
